TUF FINALIST JOHNSON RETURNS TO THE OCTAGON™
SUNDAY, JUNE 26, 2011 - LIVE FROM THE CONSOL ENERGY CENTER IN PITTSBURGH
Deerfield Beach, Fla. – Authentic Sports Management® (ASM) today announced that Michael “The Menace” Johnson (8-5) will face off with Edward Faaloloto (2-1) in a lightweight bout at “UFC® on Versus 4,” which is set to take place on Sunday, June 26 at the 19,000-seat Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The bout will be part of the first-ever UFC event to take place in Pennsylvania.
Johnson, The Ultimate Fighter® season 12 lightweight runner-up, is known for his relentlessness in and out of the cage. In a sport filled with hungry young fighters, “The Menace” stands out with his passion to be the very best that he can be. He tried out for The Ultimate Fighter multiple times before telling the producers for season 12, “I'm here; I'm not going to go anywhere. If you guys don't pick me, I'm going to try out again.” He was chosen.
Once on the show, Johnson showcased his talent in impressive fashion, defeating Pablo Garza, Aaron Wilkinson, Alex “Bruce LeRoy” Caceres, and Nam Pham to earn a slot in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter 12 against Jonathan Brookins. After a strong start from Johnson, Brookins took over, and ended up getting the nod via unanimous decision. Following the loss, the St. Louis-based “Menace” moved his camp to Jackson’s Submission Fighting, and is looking forward to his bout with Faaloloto. Now, with both Jackson’s team and ASM® behind him, the sky’s the limit for the youngster.
