Michael “The Menace” Johnson is a Lightweight Division, Mixed Martial Artist (10-5 record) and UFC fighter.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on June 4, 1986, Michael Johnson is the youngest of three children who sadly lost his father to fatal heart attack at the very young age of 10 years. Raised by his mother, Therese, Johnson attended Marquette High School, in St Louis, MO, where he was a three sport varsity athlete in football, wrestling, and track. Upon graduating in 2004, Johnson received a football scholarship to Central Methodist University, but after one year, he transferred to Meramec Community College and become one of the country’s top Wrestlers. Subsequently, Johnson moved to Springfield and attended Missouri State, studied public relations, and also discovered a passion for MMA and The Springfield Fight Club.

With a serious dedication to his new found sport, Michael Johnson started training with The Springfield Fight Club, which was an affiliate of Gracie Barra. Johnson also worked as the assistant mixed martial arts coach. It was there that Johnson really launched his MMA fighting career, including becoming the Midwest Fight League & Xtreme Cage Fighting champion, winning those titles in July 2008 and October 2009, respectively.

Johnson is known for his relentless style, both in and out of the cage. In a sport full of hungry young fighters, “The Menace” stands out with his focus, dedication and passion to be the very best that he can be. Perhaps his tenacity is most evident in his pursistance to become a part of The Ultimate Fighter. In fact, Johnson tried out forThe Ultimate Fightermultiple times before telling the producers for season 12, “I'm here; I'm not going to go anywhere. If you guys don't pick me, I'm going to try out again.”

Once on The Ultimate FighterJohnson showcased his talent in impressive fashion, defeating Pablo Garza, Aaron Wilkinson, Alex “Bruce LeRoy” Caceres, and Nam Pham to earn a slot in the finals of TUF12 against Jonathan Brookins. Johnson made his UFC debut in The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck Finale against Jonathan Brookins. After an impressive first round, Johnson lost rounds two and three — and subsequently the fight — leaving him The Ultimate FighterSeason 12 runner-up.

Following his runner up achievement on TUF 12, the St. Louis “Menace” moved his camp to Jackson’s Submission Fighting. Prior to taking on a UFC bout, Johnson considered a fight outside of the promotion, and at one point, he was slotted as the headline in the North American Fighting Championship card against Jim Bleau. However, after obtaining a UFC fight, Johnson pulled out of the NAFC bout to focus all of his efforts strictly on the UFC fights and fighters.

Johnson is energized by his management recent training experiences with his Authentic Sports Management teammates, and of appreciates the support of his South Florida based management company. With his continued focus, dedication and a passion to win, the sky’s the limit for the young and impressive fighter athlete.

In those rare times when Michael is not in training, he enjoys time at the beach in South Florida, playing video games and remaining active in sports of all types.
